Post-Work Drinks at The Promontory

After work today, Liz and I stopped off at The Promontory for a few drinks. The weather was nice, but we opted to sit at the bar (the outside was a little bright and full, when we arrived).

We seemed to have good timing, as the interior was fairly open when we showed up. But as time went on, the place just got more and more crowded. I think a lot of other people may have had similar plans, given how nice the weather was.

A small snack – I forget exactly what this was, but a bread thing of some kind, alongside an egg. There are some fiddleheads mixed in as well (something I rarely have, but do like a great deal).

The drink was called “The Avenue,” and there’s a large list of custom drinks going on this month that are separate from the main menu. There’s a different drink every day this month, and the staff will do a little stamp on your menu for each drink you get. There’s a rolling tally, with prizes for certain numbers: 5 stamps gets you a free drink, and so on.

The largest prize I think was at 25, which was a customized drink-mixing session with one of the bartenders – for you and six of your friends.

A view of the hearth. We ended up sticking around for two drinks apiece, but halfway through the second I think Liz realized she was in a bit of trouble. The drinks are deceptive here, and go down quite easily. Delicious and dangerous stuff.
