Watchhouse: That Wrecking Ball

I know that I have a tendency to fixate on a song, and then loop it over and over again for a week or two. But “That Wrecking Ball” by Watchhouse feels different. I simply cannot get enough of it, and both the melody and lyrics are just so phenomenal.

I’ve taken to leaning these past few days
A little too heavy on my walking cane
Cause I’m afraid she’s swinging my way
That wrecking ball

These first two lines are just pure joy to my ears. And at the risk of quoting the entirety of the song, the following lines are also just fantastic:

Now with all my ducks in a row
With one pull I could let them go
Not to lose, just to show
I could catch them all
But every man bears a burden
His own beast by the horns
That he hides from the world
When he’s young and strong

I’m just incredibly taken with this song – both musically and lyrically. It’s making me want to buy a mandolin.
