Covid Vaccine: Bivalent Booster
After work today, I was running a bunch of errands. And on the list: stop in at a Northwestern Immediate Care, to get the Bivalent Booster shot.

I forgot to actually take a photo this time around, so the image (above) is from the first booster, last year.
Liz and I have vowed to, never again visit the Streeterville Immediate Care location. After our experience last year, there’s no way we’d risk another multi-hour wait.
I’ve taken to going to the South Loop location. It’s rarely busy, there’s a parking garage underground, and parking is free with validation for up to 2 hours. For something quick like a booster or flu shot, this is absolutely my go-to spot.
While I had a short wait in the lobby (there were two other folks ahead of me), my actual visit was pretty quick. I want to say that barely 5 minutes passed, between me walking through the doors and then walking back out again.
Liz and I decided to stagger our shots, with me going first and her going a day or so later. So as to avoid both of us being sick and out of commission at the same time.
I feel a small sense of relief, now that I’ve gotten the booster. I share the sentiment that we’ll see another wave of cases going into Fall/Winter, and getting the booster now (versus waiting) feels like the right move.
Liz and I have been fairly cautious. But have also grown pretty lax the last 6-9 months.
I’m still of the mind that neither of us have gotten Covid yet, but that seems a near impossibility. It may be that we got it and were asymptomatic, or just never knew it. But neither of us has been massively sick for any extended period of time.
Here’s hoping the booster helps us through a few more months.
