A Long Day of Travel and Waiting: Indy to Chicago, and a Long Delay for Liz in Texas

A long travel day. I woke up (somewhat) early again, and got on the road after a bit of hanging out.
Instead of driving straight home, I headed out to Berwyn to pick up the bunnies. Before that though, I stopped at a grocery store to pick up some veggies (and had the bright idea to get ingredients for a stew).
On arriving home, I unloaded the car, got all the bunnies settled, and then promptly went to work prepping and getting a stew started. Normally I try to do this work around noon, so that the stew has enough time to cook before dinner… but today, I was prepping around 3PM.
All good, as I was expecting to pick up Liz from Midway around 9 or 10PM.
As the two of us are texting later in the evening, she lets me know that Southwest has some serious delays. And that her flight got delayed (it was originally 7PM and got bumped to 10PM).
It was touch a go for a bit (to the point where we were wondering if the airline would end up cancelling her flight, and provide her with an overnight hotel stay). Ultimately, her flight departed around 10PM, with an arrival time of 12:30 AM in Chicago.
I picked her up at Midway, we got home and settled, and by this time it was closer to 1:30 AM. We were both bleary eyed, but still tried to catch up a bit, before calling it a night and conking out to bed.
Long, long day. A lot of travel. But we’re all back home again, all of us.
