Backyard: Bunny and Roses

Started the morning by opening our back door, and seeing this buddy just relaxing in the backyard living his best life.

A bit later in the day, Liz I stepped away from work to go for a brief stroll in the backyard to check out the roses.
Last year, we were in Georgia and missed seeing all the roses bloom. So it was nice to be out to watch the progression, as everything started to pop.

A lot of roses along the garden bed on the south side of the yard (an area that we rented a sod cutter to refine [before | after]).

Liz, literally stopping to smell the roses.

We wondered where our bunny friend was from the morning. It turns out: he was still hanging out in the yard, but had moved in back to the shade.

A closeup of the roses that are climbing up the arbor.

More roses.

This bush is particularly striking, now that it’s flowering. But it’s so incredibly out of control it’s laughable. We didn’t get a chance to pare it down last year, and it’s just more or less gone crazy.
Liz tells me the time to pare it back will be in the fall. But not now, not while it’s flowering. All we can do is just enjoy how outrageous and fabulous it is.

A later view of the yard in the early evening. And yes, Liz was stopping once more to smell the roses.
