Pick Up the Phone: Bored Re-Emerges in Logan Square

Walking to work this morning, I stopped by to check out a new phone from Bored. Happy to see these guys back at it again, as it’s been a while since I’d seen anything in the area from them.

I love that the interviewer decided to use this avenue of communication to try to contact the artist/group. I guess he could also have tried to pick up the phone.
Spotted this near Dunlays and (what used to be the location for) Barbara & Barbara. Liz and I must have missed this on our way to Lula Cafe for breakfast, but spotted it as we were walking back home.
Spotted this on the way home – an awesome Monopoly property replica, painted right onto the sidewalk. I love that it’s my neighborhood, that it’s in my neighborhood… and that my neighborhood’s got no price tag.
Walking to work, Liz and I happened across a pair of dice that were clearly made by the same guy(s) that made the large Monopoly cards around here.
For the first time, the “signature” on the piece now seems to refer more to a collective than an individual. Instead of “-bored,” the name listed is “we are bored.” So my hunch here is that it’s a group of people at work. I wonder if we’ll see more work using this new moniker.
I’m still of the mindset that this is a street art piece, but a small part of me kind of wishes this was part of an elaborate marriage proposal. Somewhere out there, I’m hoping Carissa took a chance. And after getting married in that church, drove off into the sunset… squeezed into a very fast and expensive car.
Spotted this outside of Longman & Eagle two nights ago: a pair of large dice, and a collection of oversized Community Chest cards from the board game Monopoly.
