A Motivated Glacier
Today was rather uninspired. Until right about one o’clock, I felt completely useless. I went back to try and work on getting a fast forward/rewind button on that Flash piece. But suddenly, everything no longer works. No Internet connection on my flowery iMac, and I can’t test variables even when I preview the thing in a browser. After trying unsuccessfully to connect to the web numerous times, Ben suggests that I reinstall the system files (or something like that).
We try that. Reboot. It doesn’t detect any Ethernet card. We’re about to reinstall the OS when I notice a "Hardware Analysis" CD – we put that in and run it. Reboot. No Ethernet card detected. So… we copy the few files I have saved on the thing, and wipe the OS clean and reinstall. Reboot. It detects the card. :D
At lunch, we go back to that Pakistani place (I’ll remember the name one of these days) where Ben is to meet a friend of us. He’s not there when we show up, so we go ahead and get some food. Justin starts up a conversation with this guy sitting next to us, chatting about the time when Justin visited India. After the meal, Ben’s friend shows up and sits next to us while he eats. Ben and him (Mark) start talking and Justin continues his conversation with the nice guy sitting next to us. I try to listen in on both conversations and… again feel useless and out of place.
I decide to go for a walk. I leave Justin and Ben, and whip out the camera. Wander around a bit and take a big circle around the Merchandise Mart.

Back at work, I reinstall every program I originally installed, almost a week ago. I set up new Quick Keys, and go back to work on that Flash project. By the end of the day, I’ve made only a very slight bit of progress, compared to where I was this morning.
This is not winning me over to the Mac side.
I got nothing of real worth or substance done. What it feels like right now is that I just wasted an awful lot of air, and walked around the city getting into other people’s way. At best, my $6 lunch helped the economy just a teensy bit.
And even now – this blog entry is just god awful. I need to devote some more time to getting some decent thoughts/writing onto this thing. Who wants to listen to some guy complain about things all the time? Well… I mean, you do, apparently, since you’re reading this. But I mean other people.
You know. The normal ones. :)
