Day Three

Good good class today. We didn’t get as far as I would have liked, but Sandy and I decided yesterday that it was better to give the students time to work on their own projects. In this case, I’m asking them to animate their own haikus. We got to movie clips, importing graphics and a bit into masks. Not too much info, but the "free time" was invaluable.

I was able to work one on one with folks, and got to impart some of those tricky bits of knowledge like keyframes versus blank keyframes, how to "stop" elements, etc. By working individually with folks, I achieved my original goal – to get them familiar with the basic Flash tools/elements.

When we got to import graphics, and they realized they could change properties (like they could would regular symbols) – people gasped and yelped. Fucking LOVE that shit. Awesome feeling, and even now I’m getting shivers thinking about it. As people were messing with their imported graphics, I was running around the room, yelling about how all teachers live for the sounds that they were making, at that moment.
