Go go go go go go go!

Work again seemed like constant moving and doing. Lotsa crap happening, and a lot left to do. Justin and I stayed late, and ended up chatting work shit until about 7:30, 8 PM. Afterwards, we went down to Dunphy’s (inside the Mart) and had some beers with Emma. A nice, relaxing time – I got out of there around 9:30, and arrived home around 10:00 PM.

Tomorrow, I’m going to head in to work early (hopefully around 9 AM). Justin’s going to be working on that Flash Photo Gallery for his niece. Me, I’ve got a ton of catch-up work to do. I need to do a bunch of housecleaning for two sites, finish up a dynamic Flash-based links page for Ben’s freelance client, and get some concepts put together for a new Q101 contest.

The contest is really quite cool, IMO. They’re planning on giving away a big Hummer, tricked out to the nines (Global Positioning System, Built-in Xbox, screens embedded into the front headrests, wireless headphones). On top of that, they’re planning on adding on all these other gadgets (i-pod, laptop from Dell, 1 year of wireless Internet access, possibly a Palm Pilot and possibly a cellphone). The big hook was that this was going to be a sort of "mobile command unit," where you could do almost anything.

At one point, Rey described it as a "dream machine," which is how we might end up branding these things. Essentially, you could live inside this car, a home away from home. My suggestion was to throw in an Easy Bake Oven: that way, since you had a food source, you really could live inside it. :) He seemed to like the idea, as well as the tongue-in-cheek aspect of it, so it might actually get added into contest!

Ben’s out from work the next few days for vacation, and has jury duty on Tuesday. Usually, I’m not the person who designs or lays things out – I’m used to having someone hand me a concept, and I’ll implement it in Flash. So this contest idea makes me a bit nervous… I’ve never had to fully lay something like this out, design it all from scratch.

But I’m excited by it. I’ve always been wary of designing things, interested and scared of it at the same time. This Q101 contest provides a good opportunity, and an interesting challenge. It’s going to take me longer than Ben or Justin to do (for sure), but it’s going to be a lot of fun doing it.
