Downgrading

Altered what I gave to Ben, and made it work for Flash 5. This isn’t all that exciting, but I felt rather good completing it. I guess it’s more the thought that hit me as I was working on converting the thing from Flash 6 to Flash 5: holy CRAP! I know enough about Flash to determine what features make a particular project Flash 6 specific, versus Flash 5 specific!

It’s silly, and thousands beside me know the same. But knowing the differences between the versions made me feel good; knowing made me feel like I had a good handle on Flash as an application.

Over the past few months, there are days where I’m surprised at what I’ve learned. Not that there isn’t more to learn, heavens no! But I find myself plotting out projects that, a year, six months ago, were beyond my grasp. I like the fact that I’ve surprised myself. I like the fact that I know more than I’m giving myself credit for.

In moments like this, I’m not patting myself on the back. I’m rubbing my hands, looking to the future. If I’m happy and excited by where I am now? Think of where I will be with another six months! :)
