Moving

Justin and I show up at Ben’s house around 9:30. We start to move out boxes into the backyard, in anticipation of the truck. Outside, I looked up and was impressed by the large tree that towered over the apartment.

The loading begins! Dan, handing Justin a box. That’s Chuck in the back, working like a machine and getting things sorted and placed properly.

More moving. That’s Brian, in the striped shirt. Chuck and Dan and Brian all ended up leaving a bit early, but having them around getting the first truck packed was great. Moving always sucks, but it goes by so much faster with more people helping out.

Water break.

I rode with Ben in the U-Haul, on our way to the new digs. He and Laura had spent the past two days painting every room in their house! Two nights ago, he got about 2 hours sleep; last night he got about 2. The entire day, I kept looking over expecting to see him just crumple into a ball on the ground. The man just keeps going and going, and pulls energy from I don’t know where.

The new place. Man is it pretty (and you should see the inside).

A quick peek at some of the stuff from wave 1.

They really have a lot of stuff. :|

We ended up getting a lot of things moved in the first wave. Everything got moved inside by about 2:30, and we took a nice relaxing lunch in the backyard. We had hot ham and cheese sandwiches, along with carrots and broccoli and strawberries, homemade cookies and brownies too. Man, good good meal.

Beat up, we headed back and loaded up the truck once more. Ben’s new place is a considerable hike from his old apartment, and so by the time we drove back to his apartment, loaded everything remaining into the truck, the drove back to his new house and unloaded everything… it was closing in on 8:00 PM.
