Danny’s
Justin and I put in a good day, and called it quits around 8:30 PM. Today, I didn’t get an extraordinary amount done… but I was consistent, and making progress. I feel really good about the work I’ve been doing, and feel a strong sense of satisfaction at the end of the day. When it comes down to it, you can’t really ask for much more than that.
We hopped a cab to Danny’s, and proceeded to geek out even more by talking about work for like an hour or two. As much as I hate to continue work outside of normal work hours, I still derive a great deal of pleasure out of shop talk: it’s part venting, part strategy, part brainstorm, and part gossip.
Good stuff.
At one point, near the end of the night… this girl comes over, asking to bum a smoke. Justin obliges, and I decide to make her pay for her cigarette. This is something I used to do all the time, back when I was smoking. If someone asked for a cigarette, I’d ask them to tell me their favorite book/movie/poem, in exchange. Typically, I was only looking for one, but most people would try to tell me all three.
Tonight, Patricia bummed a smoke, and I asked her that question. For her book, she mentioned The DaVinci Code as her favorite book; as her favorite movie, she said The Shawshank Redemption; she had no favorite poem.
Of course, content whore that I am, I asked to take her picture. She agreed to let me use photographs of her, but only if I agreed to read The DaVinci Code. So it looks like there’s one more book on my list. She gave me her business card, and I scribbled down this blog address for her. Hopefully, she’s found her way to this page.
FYI – she was on a "first date" when we met. I have no idea if it was going well or not, but she seemed eager to get back… At any rate: Patricia! I hope your first date went well!
