Artful Dodging
I got a call from Justin, who’s been under the weather recently, ever since the Thanksgiving holidays. Well tonight he was feeling a bit better, and needed to get out of the house. After talking a bit, I decided to take him up on a drink offer and we made plans to meet up at the Artful Dodger.
Keep in mind that, prior to this, I was already sitting at home in my jammies and ready to call it a quiet, hermit-like evening. I had planned on putzing around the Internet, maybe doing a bit of reading. But next thing I know, I’m getting dressed again and heading out into the rain to meet up for drinks.
Fast forward to the bar. We talk about a wide range of things, and one of the main topics tonight seems to be the general malaise that kicks in when the weather (and the sunlight) get piss-poor around these parts. It gets dark around 4:00PM, and the hibernation/nesting instinct starts to seriously kick in.
We talked a bit about Stu, and how he and Juliet are no longer around. Justin’s known Stu for a long while, and the two of them hung out extensively. We talked at length about how happy he was with what he did, day to day… and his spontaneity. I think a big part of things is that Stu is no longer around, and it’s coming to terms with the fact that he’s officially left the city.
