Homeward Bound

Heading home for the holidays. Working remotely this week, so I’ve got a laptop from the office (decided to bring along my keyboard from home, as I hate typing on a laptop).

Ever since I started to do Flash for a living, my hands have become too accustomed to a traditional keyboard. My folks bought me one of those ergonomic keyboards a long while back, and while I was in grad school writing… I loved it. I had no problems switching from using the split-keyboard style at home, to using a regular keyboard in the school labs.

But once I started working with Flash daily? My hands got too used to certain positions and shorcuts. When, say, deleting keyframes… my left index finger moves over to the key on the right side of the keyboard and my left pinky goes to F5. This became almost reflexive. And though I did try to use my split keyboard at home, I found I couldn’t readjust as easily and gave it up.
