Happy Birthday Gretchen!
Around 10PM, a bunch of us gathered at Happy Village to help celebrate Gretchen’s birthday. It was a small group of folks, as it was a bit of a last-minute gathering. I met up with Gretchen, Dave and Rob in the back beer garden. We were later joined by Justin, Hillary stopped in briefly, and Tori and her friend Steve.

Here’s a slight tip about Happy Village, during the week. At 11PM, outdoor seating closes and everyone has to move inside. I don’t know if this is just a neighborhood bar thing, or if all bars have to follow this ordinance.

Inside, we were joined by Suzannah and more or less mingled in with the rest of the bar folks. Over the course of the night, the topics ranged from sign language, the translation of poetry, alligator hotdogs, whether or not (as a meat-eater) one should physically kill the thing being eaten, and the Aristocrats.
Also, I got to talk a bit with Tori’s friend, Steve. Turns out he also works with Tori at the Reader, and recently published a book I’ve had my eye on: Coutroom 302. I had seen several mentions of it all over, but the book slipped my mind. Talking with him tonight, I made a mental note to pick up that book, next chance I get.
