30 Minutes
Tonight, Liz and I had plans to meet some of her friends for dinner. I putzed around all day in my apartment (translation: fell asleep at 9 AM, woke back up at 1:30 PM) while she worked her second job at Crate and Barrel. I planned on meeting her when she got off of work, and ended up being pretty early – giving myself about 30 minutes to kill.
So, instead of heading directly to meet her, I wandered around a bit.

Spotted this tow truck, and was surprised how quickly the image of the cross came to my mind. I enjoy this sort of surprise, this suddenness. It’s an interesting feeling, suddenly finding yourself thinking and wondering about God, when you least expect it.

There’s a hint of symmetry in here, with everything snaking around.

Detail view.
The area where I was walking… it’s been ages since I’ve been near here. I have little occasion to frequent the bars nearby, as they’re really not my bars. The last few times I can recall being in the area were from many years ago – the UltraCrib II Giveaway, the Stray Show and Alex’s Bachelor Party (for the brief bit we were in a strip club). As I said, not an area I frequent at all.

The sun, stretching into late afternoon.

Trees will grow just about anywhere.

The heart is a complicated mechanism.
