Duck Season! Fire!

Today was one of the lengthier rides I’ve had on Liz’s scooter – up Ashland near Wrigleyville. It’s probably the same distance as it is to my work, but this was Ashland. Fairly busy, but fun nonetheless.
On arriving, I found Southport all blocked off, and had to turn to a side street. After parking and wandering over, I realized that I had stumbled onto a neighborhood festival. Nice!
I killed some time walking up and down the street, but it was still early and most of the booths weren’t really going just yet. I slipped into a nearby coffee shop, got a large drink and some biscotti – and read the paper for a little while.

All in all, there weren’t that many people in attendence for Bugs Bunny. I was the first in the theater, and there were maybe 20, 25 people total in the entire place. It was cool to see these cartoons on the big screen, and there were several points where I busted out laughing, uncontrollably. I kept wondering too, whether all the young kids (whose parents brought them) really liked the cartoons or not.
Based on the laughter I heard, they all seemed to enjoy the Road Runner a lot more, over everything else.
They showed a broad range of stuff, from Foghorn Leghorn to Pepe LePew to Bugs. One of my favorite moments was when Pepe is chasing after the female cat (who always looks like a skunk) and he calls out: “Maybe you need some occupational therapy? Like making love?” I was howling.
And, of course, they showed Duck Amuck.
Dear Chuck. Dear Mel. Dear Michael.
We miss you.
