Just Like Ozyman-Whats-His-Name
There was a great question posted on Ask MetaFilter today:
Say I want to make my name ring out through the ages. What is the best way, for a few grand or so, to make sure that I am remembered for as long as possible? Going for great achievements seems ambitious and too much work, and I am not interested in being known for great crimes. I am thinking more along the lines of the old statues-in-the-desert angle. Any ideas?
While the question itself is incredibly funny, some of the answers are as eye-opening as they are hilarious. One of my favorite replies led me to discover Ben Franklin’s bequest to Boston (which had to gather interest for 200 years, before it could be distributed).
Good, good stuff. As you can tell, I’m a big MetaFilter fan.
