Vintage Wine Bar
Liz and I decided to eat out tonight (for the first time in a long while). We started up South Beach again, so we’ve been pretty good about making our own meals and sticking to our subsets of food. We recently got to Phase II, which allows us to have wine.
And so – we went back to Liz’s old neighborhood, and made our way to a wine bar (Vintage) on Division. :)

Fron to back, it’s Valençay (Goat Cheese), Boere Kass (Gouda) and Mountain Top Bleu (another Goat Cheese). I think I got all that right.
It was fun trying out new wines as well. I don’t really think of myself as having that strong of a palette (I can tell some differences trying out wine, but I suspect that I’m missing about 80% of everything that’s going on). While I am by no means a sommelier, it was nice to venture out beyond the few standard wines that I tend to gravitate towards.
Over our meal, Liz and I had a Malbec (Don Rodolfo), a Meritage (Steltzner), a Cabernet (Bernard Griffin) and a Pinot Noir (Ramsay). I’d never had a Malbec before, and this was wholly new to me. It was my first taste, and I’m definitely interested in trying out more.
All in all, we had a pretty laid back evening. We’ve been cooking and staying in so much lately, it was good to eat and drink somewhere else outside of the apartment. Even with our dietary restrictions… we were able to have a meal out, and still stay on the diet. Not too bad for an indulgent night out.
