Thank You for Smoking: Great Movie (and Great Title Sequence)

I’ve been meaning to see it for a long time now, but finally got to watch Thank You for Smoking. I was more than surprised by this film, and found it totally enjoyable.

The whole time I was watching this, it felt… clean. I’m not sure why that word came to mind, but it did. The dialogue and characters were great, and watching the movie felt quick – the minutes flew by, as fast as pages fly by in a book you really like.

In a weird way, this movie was sort of like an action movie to me. It had the same build and arcs that a typical action movie has, where the hero faces certain trials and then, ultimately, himself. But it was all done in this light and very (here’s that word again) clean way.

And as a total aside – I first remember hearing about this movie from various design circles, where people were going crazy for the excellent title sequence (made by Shadowplay Studios). I’ve added the movie in below, but you can check out the original here.

More info on the title sequence here.
