Breathing Books

Breathing Books is a perfect tumblr blog for bibliophiles. Interestingly enough, I recently talked about libraries with Sandra at work (she thinks I would have made a good librarian). These images definitely remind me of my days as a library page, both at the Indiana University Library, as well as the Monroe County Public Library.

I love how warm and rich so many of these images are. They make me think of late Spring, of dust and solitude, silence and coffee. While I still read from time to time, it’s been a long while since I’ve spent an entire day, lost within the pages of a novel.

As much as I love technology and as much as I read online, on my computer screen and iPhone… this site reminds me of how wonderful the written word is, as a physical object.
