Labor Day in Frankfort

Last weekend, Liz and I went down to hang out with the family over Labor Day. On arriving, I was happy to see the cabinet Bob and I had worked on, sitting in its new home on the front porch.

An old lamp, perched on top.

Detail view. With not a lot of extra work (a bit of paint and varnish), it looks like a totally different piece. It definitely looked very different when we first started.

Speaking of old things that look fantastic – I happened to see this, parked across the street. It was so beautiful, I had to take a photo (I knew I wanted to share it on here).

Also – for those of you who are fans of American Pickers… you’ve undoubtedly noticed the old gas pump in the driveway.

Just lovely. As I was taking pictures, the owners yelled to me from their porch, asking if I wanted to buy it. Silly me, I didn’t end up asking what their price was. I knew that, even if I could afford this car… I’d have no place to keep it. I did daydream a little though, if only momentarily.

We had a nice, relaxing day in Frankfort. When we were there, it was the last day of Fall Fest. Sadly, I didn’t end up going down to view the waterballoon fight this year. Oh well, there’s always next year…
