Wading Home

Walking to the Metra after work, my feet were pretty much soaked 2 minutes after I got outside. On encountering Wabash, it was impossible to cross without dunking my feet at least once.

I tried crossing from two different points, and there was just no way to do it without getting my feet soaked. Guess I should have listened to Liz and purchased some boots before now.

With the sleet and freezing rain, it made the pools of water that much more deceptive. As I walked to the Metra, I could hear the shrieks of people who were taking their first steps into the arctic waters in the street.

Honestly, the wading wasn’t the worst part. It was about 10-15 seconds afterwards, when the cold actually penetrated far enough that your feet could feel it. Luckily for me, I got a text from Liz and an offer to pick me up in Hyde Park. So at least I had some part of my commute home that didn’t involve walking through water.
