Waiting on a Train
On the way in to work last week, I’ve been looking out the window a lot more. Usually, I’ll sit on the inside while Liz takes the window seat – but with her in Paris, I’ve started to catch smaller moments on the Metra ride in.
Halfway on our trek downtown, the train stops to pick up a few Metra workers. Sometimes, I’ll see someone depart our train; other times, we’ll be picking up workers. In one instance, I saw one worker get off a train only to walk over and then climb aboard ours.
While we were stopped, I spotted a small bench that must be exclusively for Metra workers. It seemed like a random stop in the middle of nowhere, and I thought it looked neat.
A few moments later, I happened to catch a train pulling up slowly.
I like this little stop between (official) stops. It makes me think of the world of Harry Potter, or the world of Neil Gaiman. These small moments that the rest of us, lost in our daily routines, might not notice.
