Gregory Alan Isakov: The Stable Song
Usually when Liz queues up music to listen to, she’ll ask Alexa to just play music by Gregory Alan Isakov. And usually, the playlist starts with this song.
The past week, I’ve made it the song I’ve listened to on my commute, to and from work. There’s a slow cadence to the whole thing, which I’ve found to be a very lovely way to begin and end the work day.
There are several parts of the song that I love, in terms of lyrics. But the opening is a solid one:
Remember when our songs were just like prayers.
Like gospel hymns that you called in the air.
Come down come down sweet reverence,
unto my simple house and ring…
and ring.
Like gospel hymns that you called in the air.
Come down come down sweet reverence,
unto my simple house and ring…
and ring.
Isakov’s range is similar to mine, and this seems like a song I might actually be able to play/sing.
