A Better Underage Drinking Ad

Spotted this on my way home: a “talk to your kid about underage drinking” public service announcement.

I found myself thinking that it seemed a well-designed ad. Very subtle and understated (you don’t even know what it’s about, until you go in for a closer look). The yellow on black text of “LIT” catches your eye, but not in an obnoxious way. It’s ambiguous enough to pull you in, to want to read a little more.

And the condition language of “They just might listen” strikes me as more honest, more realistic.

In seeing this ad, I was immediately reminded of the awful ad I saw on the CTA, nearly 5 years ago. It was so bad, I remembered its awfulness all these many years later.

At least this one didn’t have a megaphone.
