Grubhub Happy Hour

With a happy hour event after work today, I opted to take the Metra instead of driving. Yet another first, in a week full of firsts.

The train wasn’t overly crowded, which was nice. But many/most were not wearing masks. This is starting to become more the norm, the more I’m out and about.

Walking in to Millennium Station. On my way up, I thought of the man, the woman, and the medic.

I think this was the wrong spot, but I paused for a moment… looking to see if the memorial for Wilbert Van Hooten had ever been replaced.
I spent a few minutes looking, but couldn’t spot it anywhere.

I remembered that I could almost make it clear to my building, via the Pedway. A lot of nostalgia and memories, walking what used to be a twice-daily path.
On my way, I spotted this bit of street art, if you can call it that – since we weren’t technically on a street. It was a print of a photo, and the kind of thing that’s right up my alley. Seemed fitting to also take a photo of it.

After work, a bunch of us headed over to Chicago Brewhouse – a spot where our team last met with one another in 2021.

Our team has grown considerably, this last year. So much so that we’ve split into two separate teams, primarily front end and back end.
There are a lot of new faces on both teams, and it was nice visiting with everyone without looking into a computer screen to do so.

A lot of fun stories, and I had some genuinely good, deep laughs that I haven’t had in a work setting in a super long time. Really nice to catch up with everyone in person, and to raise a few glasses getting to know one another again. And in some cases, for the first time.
