Windshield Damage

As Liz and I were driving up to Michigan today, we heard this terrific *crack*. It was sharp and sudden and loud. And startled both of us.

Imagine sitting in your car, driving, and then someone clapping their hands really loudly an inch from your ear. That’s what it sounded and felt like.

We knew a rock had hit the windshield, but didn’t think much more of it beyond that.

About an hour later… we spotted a small crack in the windshield. And we watched it slowly growing in size, as we kept driving.

Eventually, the crack split in two and started growing in different directions. Luckily though, it reached a certain point and stopped growing. At least, for now.

What we couldn’t see from inside the car was the terrific point of impact. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that the entire windshield didn’t shatter.

It’s drive-able for now. But looks like we’re gonna need a new windshield.
