An Unexpected Trip
Yesterday, while up at Gethsemane looking at flowers, Liz was talking to someone there about roses. She learned that there was this place in Ohio called Freedom Gardens, the home/location of a rose grower with a collection of many, many old and hard to find roses.
Turns out, the location welcomes visitors only one month out of the year, and only on the weekends. And as fortune would have it, the last weekend was this weekend.
Liz was debating a lot, and we talked through several scenarios. My friend Juliet was coming in town tomorrow, and could we make it back in time. Who would take care of the bunnies? And so on.
Liz ended up debating things more, and kept going back and forth. And ultimately landed on her doing a road trip solo, with a stayover at a hotel in Kent, OH.

The rose seeker, about to head out.
A very serendipitous encounter at Gethsemane, leading to quite the spontaneous road trip. Culminating in a “You know what – I’m going to travel across two states to browse some roses, just because I can” moment. The last few years have turned us into homebodies, and it’s nice to see the adventurous side emerge a bit.
Here’s hoping we have enough room in the backyard for the inevitable haul of roses I’m expecting she’ll bring back.
