Removing the Front Door

Placido, who has done several window installs for us, is repairing and refinishing out front door for us. Our front door is… well, it’s quite a honker.

Given its size, the work will be done off-site. In the meanwhile, we’re getting a temporary front door, complete with a new set of keys/deadbolt.

Nothing much to look at, but it sure is clean looking. The hilarious thing? This door shuts so easily and smoothly, I actually love it.

Our front door (and the door frame/jamb) has gotten out of alignment over the years. And opening and closing it requires you to put a little force into the door with your shoulder, or to tug on the door handle as you’re working the key.

This new/temp door? It opens and closes like butter. Butter! I can actually go in and out of the house using just one hand. That in and of itself is quite the novelty.
