Wisteria, Interrupted

Walking to get something from the car today, and noticed that the wisteria near our house got trimmed down. To say I was shocked was an understatement.

There’s a part of me that always knew this would happen, that it was a matter of time. But another part of me wanted to see how far this bird could fly. To see just how much larger the wisteria could grow. And if, perhaps, it could have made it across the street.

Looking at things from a distance (notice the carnage on the sidewalk). It’s difficult to describe the feeling – a bit more than sadness. This felt like a personal affront, in some ways.
Hard to believe that we’ve watched this thing grow over the last two years. I guess… it’s time to start again.
