Sarah McLachlan: Adia

I’ve had this song in my head today. Oddly, while I never got into Sarah McLachlan in the 90’s, this song was one that really stuck with me.

Cause we are born innocent
Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent
It’s easy, we all falter
Does it matter?

This song is one I’ve carried with me, for several decades now. And today, it sounds different from my earlier memories.

  1. I liked the song when I first heard it. And then, many years later, I heard the backstory about what prompted the song. And for a long while after, there was this added sadness to the song.

In writing up this post, I was happy to find this summary, which seems to suggest that things did work out well, in the end. Some many, many years later.
