Trim Cuts

Liz has been hard at work, refactoring a lot of our earlier measurements. With our discussion over the weekend, we now have refined lengths for our rough cuts.

What this means: our earlier docs had measurements that rounded up a good deal. We had a lot of buffer for each length, and were trying to group things in therms of 8′, 10′, 12′, etc board lengths.

As a result of that, our rough cut estimates are huge. With a lot of waste, despite how much we tried to make things efficient.

With Liz’s refactor, she was able to figure out a more efficient cut list. Which resulted in us having a few full boards extra, leftover. Which was a huge deal.

With our newer cut list defined, Liz went about trying to match boards for each window (casings to match the stool/apron, etc). And after all this planning and talk, we finally set about making a few cuts, tonight.

There’s more to do yet, but actually cutting down some boards into rough lengths was a big deal for us. Trim is a newer endeavor, and tonight was a big, first step.
