I made a new playlist that I’ve been listening to on a loop (yes on a loop – shocker). The songs though… they’re a little, odd. They’re songs I like, but they mostly come from a 2000 – 2002 era. Most of these songs I remember from the radio.

I have some very specific memories, listening to Q101 while I was driving to/from the Barrington suburbs, for my first job out of grad school. I can’t say these are favorite artists (some are), but the songs from the time are what I’ve kind of been amassing.

It’s not necessarily the songs themselves that I like. It seems to be the feeling these songs evoke. Several of them I haven’t heard in a long while. And they just remind me of that earlier time.

Side note: I for sure have listened to them now, since this thing has been on a perpetual loop anytime I’m working on a personal project at home.

A little nostalgia perhaps? Definite memories of my first job, and of late nights. Of being on my own for the first time in a new city, new state, new job.
