Moving Out
I don’t know why I didn’t get photos of everyone’s desks, but here are the ones I did capture. This is Mike’s desk. Remember back when he didn’t even have a desk to put his phone on? My desk. Hard to believe it’s alreay been more than two years. Chris’ desk.Justin’s desk. Deb’s office, all…
One of the big
One of the big downfalls of working at home is not having my daily redeye (doubleshot of espresso, dumped into a full cup of coffee) from Artisan. Here’s a pic of Trent, serving me up my “last” bit of Illy before the moveout.
October 7th
During my desk-cleaning, I came across this bit of paper where I had written down Ann’s birthday, to make sure I remembered to either send a gift or give her a call. I realized that this note is more than two years old, seeing as how she died last September. And on looking back on…
Packing Up: The End is Nigh
Today, around 3PM, everyone started to break down their desks and begin the slow process of moving out. Tomorrow is our deadline, and we have to get everything out of the office before the end of the day. Within about 30 minutes, there was crap everywhere. Boxes. Old snacks and random bits of paper everywhere….
TCB Museum
I stumbled across the TCB Museum this morning, and a lot of folks at work got hooked as well. Delightful stuff, and a lot of fun to explore. Some might recognize the style of this project, and recall my entry about Treasure Box (also worth checking out). Both sites were created by Wada che Nanahiro….
You know the sad
You know the sad part about all this? I won’t be able to document much of the progression after tomorrow, seeing as how I’ll be working from home for the next two months. We’ll still have the occasional meeting on site, but my visits to Artisan will be few and far between.
Recent Sites
I haven’t been good about updating lately, and a lot of stuff has happened – particularly friends who have either launched new sites or have new stuff for the world to see and enjoy. So here we go. My friend Mitch is in a band called The Shuteye Train, and they just released their CD….
What All This Cleaning Is About
I haven’t mentioned this, despite the fact that it’s a pretty huge and tremendous thing that’s going to happen this week. A few months back, the company I work for (Emmis), recently acquired a second radio station here in Chicago. They own Q101, and the other station they got was The Loop. After a lot…
More Cleaning
Here’s the relocated bookshelf. This one holds all my poetry books, and anything writing-related (poetry anthologies, writers on writing, etc). Here’s a slight aside. A few weeks back, Matt and I talked about starting up our poetry exercises again. But this time… we weren’t interested in the daily, short poems. We wanted something a bit…
I felt pretty lucky!
I felt pretty lucky! Spotted this fantastic bike right outside the Division Blue Line stop. I got off here because I was returning a video to the nearby Blockbuster. Yes, yes, it was a DVD from the show Monk. But I’ll likely not do this again, because as of yesterday… I now have Netflix.
Hello, Netflix
I finally decided to join Netflix tonight. I’ve heard a lot of good things from folks who have it, and I’ve been on the peripheral for a while now. Decided to take the dive tonight. Of course, first up on my list… I’m totally binging out on episodes of Monk. And I just found out…
I couldn’t help but take a picture of this
Cleaning Up the Office
I moved all the crap out of my office today. I had piles of paper and books piled up on every available space on my desk, up as high as my printer. I took another of my bookshelves, and moved it out by the kitchen to clear up some room. Before, it was all my…
I’ve been bad about the
I’ve been bad about the blog stuff lately. I haven’t been going out a ton, but other things have distracted me from here. Which… honestly, I think is a good thing. I’m sitting in front of a freaking computer for a good number of hours every day. It’s been a bit liberating to just let…
