Insomnia
For someone like me (who has sleep apnea), sleep tends to come fairly quickly/easily. For it not to come at all is… very, very weird. Today was a bit of a haze.

I think I finally fell asleep around 3:30 AM or so. I was really close to just giving up, getting out of bed, and just doing some work – because of how futile it seemed, trying to fall asleep.
For my part, when the lights go out I need to do something on my phone to lull myself to sleep. Trying to avoid my phone has resulted in me just being wide awake, and I tend to need to either play a game or read some news articles until I get drowsy.
Here’s a weird thing that’s happened over the weekend: I had trouble falling asleep. If you talk to Liz, you’ll find out just how unusual this is. I usually fall asleep within 5-10 minutes of my head hitting the pillow. I fall asleep faster than a narcoleptic on Quaaludes.
This “developmental cyst” that I have (and its subsequent infection) has really put me out of commission the last few days. I’ve been unable to concentrate, and mostly unable to even relax. The pain/discomfort is ever-present, and only in a few instances has it abated enough to where I could really focus on something besides the discomfort.
During the days, Liz and I have gotten in the habit of taking naps. We both get an ok amount of sleep at night, but I’ve been going back to bed around noon for a few hours. Yesterday was pretty funny, as Liz and I were almost rotating shifts in bed – I got up around 5PM, and she then went and took a nap until around 7PM or so.
Around 3:30 AM, I woke up to another bout of sneezing. And basically… here we are. I knew that I was going to be unable to keep the CPAP going, and I didn’t want Liz to suffer from a bad night of sleep as well. So I decided to move myself out to the couch. Somewhere, during that short trip from bedroom to living room, I realized I was pretty awake. I decided to hop on the computer, instead.
