12 Hour Road Trip! I…. Oh, Wait. Nevermind.

This morning, I get an e-mail from Tim at the University of Alabama. They sent a letter to me, right around the time I moved into my new apartment; I never got the letter. Since they hadn’t heard from me, they assumed that I’d already made my own travel plans.

Eek.

Well, here I was then, early in the morning, hair still wet from my shower. Searching mapquest, to find out the distance from here to Alabama. Roughly 700 miles, or 12 hours. Running numbers in my mind, trying to figure out how early I’d have to leave, etc etc.

During the day, Tim writes me and finds a flight leaving out of Midway on Sunday afternoon, direct. Also finds me a flight back, next Saturday, direct. Awesome!

So… 12 hour road trip averted. It would have been kinda fun, but I think that’s me talking crazy. It would have been fun for the first 3 hours maybe. When I drove down to New Orleans for the last AWP, it was alright. A long, long drive… kinda boring, and these immense distances where there were no visible buildings or inhabitants. Seeing as I was without a cell phone, the drive was a bit spooky.

OK. Heading out in under a week. Back to work.
