An Evening of Surprises
Stepping off the train – I found my little area of Chicago almost blinded by snow. For a good 30 minutes or so, snow just came down hard, the likes of which I haven’t seen for about two years. I tried taking some pictures, but they all came out pretty shitty – mainly because the instant I pulled out my camera, snow melted onto the lens. After walking about 3 blocks, my entire overcoat looked like it was dipped in powdered sugar.
Thankfully though, this was just a little burst and not prolonged. Had that amount kept up for the night, I would probably be digging my way to work tomorrow.
At the liquor store, I dropped a case of Harp’s onto the floor. Could have been the cold, could have been the handles on the twelve-pack busting… it could have been my own clumsiness. But honestly – I’m more careful with my beer than that! One of the guys in the store was nice enough to help me and it turns out I only broke one bottle (I was fairly careful, but he ended up slicing his finger a little bit). When it came time to pay, the lady charged me full price (plus an extra dollar); I felt bad, and didn’t complain about it.
Back home, I found a new fan spinning away in my kitchen. Thanks Mike!
Only when I looked at the new lamp in my kitchen did I realize what was going on. Mike left a note taped to it explaining how the lights on the fan weren’t working. Hence, the lamp.
