Housekeeping, the French, and Dave Barry
With all the recent traffic/activity lately, I decided to do a little housekeeping. Up until now, my older Flash projects were sitting on some pretty bare bones HTML pages. Today, I tweaked the stylesheet for this site and created a page layout that could better house all of my Flash projects.
The hope is that they look a bit better. Also, my goal was to give visitors a sense that there’s more to this site than just the Flash experiments.
Currently, there’s a lot of links out there pointing straight to the experiments themselves (the pi10k experiment in particular). My guess is though, a lot of folks view it, close it, and move on.
After today’s re-organization, hopefully there’s a bit more context surrounding the experiments – a bit more to entice folks to click around and explore. There’s now a custom left column, with a few dynamic pics/links; there’s now a custom footer, too (also with a few dynamic links).
More links to content = more browsing = more pageviews and time spent viewing. At least, that’s the current theory.
I also finally added in some Google Analytics tracking code to the experiments. Up until this weekend, I wasn’t keeping tabs on any of the individual experiment pages – only the blog pages. Now… I’ll have a more accurate sense of who’s visiting my site, and from where.
So far, it’s been a lot of fun watching the site stats. While the high traffic window of BoingBoing visitors has seemingly passed on by, the French seem to like me, as does Dave Barry.
In fact… at the moment? I’m getting an inordinate amount of traffic from Dave Barry.
God bless the Internet. :)
Sure the French like you and there were a nice article about you in ecrans.fr published last week:http://www.ecrans.fr/Le-site-du-jour-Avoision,3465.html
