I Got Mentioned on BoingBoing… Again? Rehi, BB!
Well this was pretty unexpected. I was in meetings this morning and… again, on walking out, I ran into Chris and he said congratulations to me. Again. For making it onto BoingBoing… again!
The way I see it, I need to start going to more lengthy morning meetings. Because somehow, my internet fame seems to be increasing whenever I’m not near my keyboard. Heh.
I was busy all day today, but once again… I was incredibly delighted by the BB nod. Today was one of those hectic work days where, as you’re trying to do one thing, you’re trying to remember another thing that is really important… but before you can get to that first thing you’re doing, someone else is asking you to do a third thing, etc. Lots of that, nonstop.
But – whenever I had a bit of a lull, and things settled some… I remembered the BB double mention, and that immediately made me smile again. Twice in one week, jeez… that’s just crazy to me.
Remember when I said before that making it onto BB felt like winning the lottery, twice? Well, after our Korean BBQ adventure last night, I had exactly one dollar left in my wallet.
Since I’m on a roll, I figured what the hey.
I realize that, by purchasing this lottery ticket, I’m effectively asking for my roll to end since the odds are ridiculously stupid in any lottery. But since I worded it the way I did… buying a lottery ticket seemed like a moral imperative.
To tell you the truth – the pi10k project is such an old, old project… I’m a bit embarrassed now that it’s getting the press that it is. This thing was designed maybe 6 or 7 years ago, back when I was first learning about arrays. In fact, the whole experiment stemmed from me trying to get my head around arrays, and was a way for me to practice the concept.
The design isn’t anything to write home about (this was made back in my early Flash days, when I fancied myself a designer), and I re-exported it at one point… with some missing fonts (hence, the jacked up numerals in a few spots). At the time, I think I was also learning about Photoshop, and layers, and opacity. Yeesh.
Still though, it’s getting some good attention. Which tells me folks like the functionality a lot, and are willing to forgive me the various layout/font transgressions I’ve made.
As before, I’m hoping folks trickle their way over to the blog, after seeing some of the experiments. Once more, I’m throwing out a few links to some older moments of interest – hopefully for anyone visiting, these small tidbits will be an encouragement to browse around, and explore a while. As always, feel free to grab the RSS feed, as I update this guy daily.
