Officially Done with the Old Apartment

The final day at the old apartment took longer than I thought. We had some touchup painting to do in the sunroom, but we also wanted to go back and revisit the bedroom and office. While we had already painted those rooms, in the light of day we could see patches where it needed another coat.

I spent most of the morning patching up the rooms, and re-doing a few walls. After helping out a bit with the painting, Liz switched to picking up the rest of the apartment. Though we had moved nearly everything about a week ago, we still had a few odds and ends to take care of: cleaning supplies under the sink, brooms and mops, donations to Salvation Army.

When the rooms were all painted, I started to run things out to the car. By the time we moved everything out of the apartment, our back seat was pretty much jam packed with stuff. Upstairs in the apartment we swept the floors, and did a final walk through.

It’s weird to see the apartment back to how it was when we moved in: empty, but full of sunshine in every room. The smell of paint was nice and it suggested, like it always does, new beginnings. Although for us, it meant a new beginning in a different apartment up the way.

It wasn’t fun going back and finishing up the place… but good and necessary and DONE. I’m happy that we’re officially out of the old apartment. All that remains is for us to schedule a final walkthrough with our management company, and (hopefully) find someone to rent it before May.
