Kano: A Computer Anyone Can Make

Started by a challenge from a 7-year-old and helped by a tremendously popular Kickstarter project, Kano is an easy-to assemble computer and coding kit designed for all ages.

The assembly instructions look very straightforward, and the kit allows you to experiment with creating your own games, and playing around with audio/video. While it would be fun to mess with something like this, my first inclination was: Wow, this would be great for my nieces and nephews!

These kits seem like a really fantastic way to introduce young kids to the concepts of hardware and software, enabling them to quickly see the results of their actions/choices. They do seem like really great gifts.
