New Page Added: Speaking Engagements

After hearing Saya talk at the last 20×2 Chicago event, I was inspired to start up my own “speaking” page. I liked how she decided to announce her intentions by creating a page specifically about her speaking at events… and got to thinking that that’s something I’d like to try as well.

Lo and behold, the very next day – I got an invite from Saya to particupate in Potluck! 14.0. I had a lot less time than I’m used to for prep… but I took a cue from Saya, said yes, and dove right in. I found, surprisingly, that I discovered my topic, and was able to rehearse and become comfortable with my talk in less time than I suspected.

Having done two events back to back, I feel that I’ve gotten a taste for it. And well… I’ve decided to try my hand at applying for more talks, and giving more presentations.

I’m sure the page will change a bit, over time. But for now – it’s a small stake in the ground. I doubt requests are going to come rolling in, as it’ll be on me to talk and inquire and apply for slots on my own. But at least it’s a point of reference, and a start.
