Late Night, Early Morning, and a Scooter Ride Down Lake Shore Drive

Terrible night last night. My coughing kept me up, despite a good shot of NyQuil prior to bed. At around 3AM, rather than take another hit of NyQuil, I ended up taking my pillow and heading upstairs (so Liz could at least sleep in quiet).

We woke up earlier than normal this morning, and headed back to Logan Square for breakfast at Lula Cafe. After that we fired up Liz’s scooter, which had been sitting along a side street for most of the winter.

We tried to start it up a few weeks ago, but the battery was dead. So we brought it back home with us, charged it up, and waited for a warm day where we could drive it back down South. After getting it up and running, Liz followed behind me as we snaked our way downtown, and eventually on to Lake Shore Drive.

Here’s a photo of me, taken by Liz, as she was following behind. We had talked this out, where she would help stay behind and block cars from getting too close. The speed limit along LSD is around 45 MPH, so we were a bit wary.

All told, it wasn’t that bad. The scooter is really powerful, and I was able to drive it around 50-55 comfortably.

It’s crazy that the scooter’s been back in Logan Square for so long. But as of today, officially now, we have nothing of ours left in Logan Square.
