Working on New Year’s Day

Though we had good intentions to work all through our vacation days, we dropped off a little yesterday. We ended up sleeping in, and then went to go watch the latest Star Wars movie (The Force Awakens).

The days are colder, and the bed feels warmer. And each vacation day seems to pass by that much faster. So it’s been hard to stay motivated.

Last night, Liz and I talked, and re-confirmed our plans to pick up work once more. So even though today is New Year’s Day, and most of the rest of the country is nursing a hangover… we decided to put in a few hours on the house.

Shine a little light. The back basement area isn’t lit that well, so we brought down the portable work lights that have stayed at our place, thanks to Bob.

For today’s session, we decided to focus on applying more of a cement coat to the bricks. We’d pick up where we left off, and work our way around the main waste pipe.

It continues to be incredibly convenient to have a cement mixer on the premises. This has also stayed at our place for some time now, and is also courtesy of Bob.

Another small stretch of wall covered. Liz and I are getting some good practice in, and are averaging about a bag per hour (or so).

Little by little, bit by bit, brick by brick.

Hello, 2016.
