Basement Cleanup

After work today, Liz and I went in the basement to clear up some of the debris that accumulated during Liz’s solo run a few days ago. She had put most of the demo debris in bags, and continued clearing out the space above where the stairs will go. For my part, I started hauling out bags of trash and drywall.
I still can’t get over the fact that I was walking across an area that has been a sand pit for a long time now. It still amazes me that we have an actual floor again in the basement.

Old insulation removed.

Some “Great Stuff” foam, to patch up the walls before insulation goes on.
Poor Liz had to contend with my sour mood, which seems to kick in whenever we fall into house work. I seem to get into a dark mode for the first 30-45 minutes, and eventually snap out of things – but she’s been putting up with that from me for a few weeks now.
Tonight though, I think I was worse than normal. I was fine this morning, but by the time I got home my head was wrapped in a pretty dark cloud. I’m sure some of it has to do with the current political situation, as I’ve been trying to read more articles and stay more informed. There’s a large part of me that thinks I should unplug from social media for a few days – not as a way to stick my head in the sand, but as a pause.
I wondered out loud to Liz whether I was suffering from some kind of Vitamin B deficiency, and whether I might be experiencing seasonal depression. Liz mentioned that she had considered buying me a light.
Maybe it’s time for me to look into some full spectrum light bulbs…
