The Avett Brothers: Ain’t No Man

I came across this song by The Avett Brothers a week ago, and have had it looping incessantly for a few days. More than just a catchy tune, it’s really been all-consuming. And I can’t help but feel happy/good whenever I hear it.

As an example – when I had to go drive and get a replacement paint sprayer over the weekend, I had this song playing while I was in the car… and I was belting it out the entire time. For the drive there, as well as the drive back.

In fact, hearing this song just makes me want to sing it out loud. It’s not often that a song makes me feel this way.

I found several versions of the group singing this song. And while they are incredible performers, the sound quality on many of the videos was lacking. Take a listen to the official music video if you want to hear the version that I am listening to… (I just found the video a little too distracting).

Funny side note: a few years ago, at my friend Kevin’s bachelor party, I was at a swanky hotel bar… and a woman asked if I was a member of The Avett Brothers. Guessing she thought I was Joe Kwon.

The room was pretty dark, and there was a decent amount of vodka everywhere. But hey – I’ll take being mistaken for a famous/successful musician. I don’t know that I have an exact score for moments of mistaken identity, but I’d say it’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to 1, Aoki to Kwon.

Now I’m wondering if Kwon ever gets mistaken for Steve Aoki, too.
