A Warm, Windy Night
Today was pretty busy. After work, I immediately hopped in the car and went to the laundromat to do a few loads of laundry. By the time I got home, it was after 7:30PM, and by the time I got all the clothes put away… it was closer to 8PM.
A little after I had settled in upstairs, I heard the terrific sound of rain and wind, buffeting the side of the house. I took my glass of wine in hand, went outside, and just stood on the porch for a few minutes.
The weather has been unusually warm – in the upper 50’s for early December. I stood outside in a t-shirt, just listening to the wind and the weather, trying to feel the remaining warm in the air.
The street light, hidden behind a set of branches, looked like a spider web to me. The rain made the limbs look like they were covered in ice.
The evening was quite lovely. It made me wish I had a tumbler full of scotch, and maybe a cigar (even though I don’t really care for cigars). It felt like that kind of an evening, where you could just sit on the porch and listen to the warm weather get pushed away until Spring.
