The Wood Brothers: Luckiest Man
Happened across this song by The Wood Brothers, and it’s been my latest loop.
The odd thing to me is where I seem to fixate in the song. It’s not the main refrain, but this one specific part – it’s one particular rhyme:
You’re up against
too many horses
and mysterious forces
too many horses
and mysterious forces
It’s the slide from horses, into the next line landing on “mysterious forces.” Something about that feels very satisfying to me, like a brick sliding into a perfectly fitted spot in a wall.
Needless to say it’s been on repeat for a while now, and is the soundtrack to a lot of my working hours.
