Home Depot: Swing and a Miss

Liz and I were at Home Depot today, and… unfortunately, lost a good chunk of time due to something as basic as logistics.

I wanted to go in for a bit of lumber; she was going to check the garden section while I shopped. We decided I would call her when I was done.

I got finished with my shopping, texted Liz, and said I would be trying to find her. I ended up walking to the garden area, and roamed all around – inside and out. No luck.

Eventually, I called her and left a message and said I’d just be waiting by lumber, where I was originally.

I waited there for a good while. And after 20+ minutes, getting bored and a little overheated… called Liz again and said I would be trying to find her once more.

After another long stretch of time, I ended up calling Liz and got a hold of her. Turns out, she left her phone in the car. And had been waiting for me near the cash registers.

She too had also waited a long time, got frustrated, and went looking for me. And timing-wise, I think she went looking in the lumber section right when I left to go search for her.

To make things worse: I had forgotten my wallet, and actually needed Liz to physically help me check out. Needless to say, both of us were frustrated at things, and felt the other person was in the wrong: on discovering she had forgotten her phone, I felt Liz should have gone to get it; on realizing she wasn’t answering, Liz felt I should have checked the space near the registers for her.

A bit of an errand day today. Which took a little longer than usual, because of us.
